Here in this post, we are going to clear your doubts about the Meta and Metaverse. So keep reading this post till the end to know more about Meta, Metaverse, and why Facebook thinks it future.
What is Metaverse?
In technical words, Metaverse is a hypothesized iteration of the internet that supports persistent online 3-D virtual environments through conventional personal computing, as well as virtual and augmented reality headsets.
In simple words, Metaverse is a virtual universe where the artist can create their own creativity. Metaverse is also present in limited form in Video games (like Second Life) or VRChat systems.
Some iterations of the metaverse also involve iterations between virtual and physical spaces and invented economics. Metaverse also encompasses user-centric elements including avatar identity, presence, virtual economy, social acceptability, trust accountability, and security and privacy.
What You Can Do In The Metaverse?
Metaverse is a concept that involves an online world where people can interact with each other without being physically present there. For example, you can enjoy dinner with your family in Mumbai but your family is physically present in Chennai. You may really feel them sitting around you at the same table.
It can also change the work-from-home experience shift amid the coronavirus pandemic. All employees can join each other in the virtual office without physically being present there.
There are many other use cases of Metaverse in the real world and virtual world.
How Facebook Will Implement Metaverse?
Facebook first introduced its interest in Metaverse by creating a VR world in 2019 with the launch of Facebook Horizon, which is an invite-only immersive environment that users can enter by putting on an Oculus headset. In August 2021 Facebook rolled out its Horizon Workrooms which is a unique feature where can co-workers wear VR headsets to participate in a virtual workroom.
Metaverse is a much more evolved space and Facebook decided to work on this project. Metaverse is also a fully functioning economy where individuals and businesses can create and sell their own products. In the cryptocurrency market, there are already gaming tokens and NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) which users can buy and sell and earn profit from them. Some major examples of these Metaverse projects are Decentraland, The Sandbox, My Neighbour Alice, Arkona, etc.
In the end, we can say that it is the future because the metaverse combines the experience of both the digital and physical worlds.
